Today's podcast is especially meaningful. It's with Nikia Hammonds-Blakely, a partnership manager at the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and a breast cancer survivor herself.
Here are links to get it on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play, and Spotify.
As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And, as many of you know the Susan G. Komen Foundation is one of the newest members of the Charity Miles family.
Susan G. Komen’s Bold Goal is to cut the number of U.S. breast cancer deaths in half by 2026.
SGK funds more breakthrough research than any other breast cancer non-profit, while providing lifesaving support to millions of people in more than 30 countries worldwide, so patients can live better lives, longer.
But that's only part of the story.
Because when I heard about Nikia's journey with breast cancer– a journey that began when she was just 16– I was struck by how many deeply personal fronts there are in the fight against breast cancer.
And SGK is leading the charge on all of them.
In addition to funding research and patient support, SGK also provides fact-based information to empower people to make informed health decisions, while ensuring that all people have access to quality screening, diagnosis, and treatment for breast cancer.
They also advocate for government funding of critical patient support while creating a community that unites and supports everyone affected by breast cancer.
Like SGK, we believe that breast cancer is #unacceptable.
So, if you're moved by Nikia's story, please join me in dedicating some Charity Miles to SGK this month. Please also consider donating or starting a fundraiser to end breast cancer forever.

P.S. Big thanks to Nikia for walking in the Dallas heat with me. (It was almost 100 degrees!) And to everyone at SGK for welcoming and sharing your incredible energy with me.
