As most of you know April is Parkinson’s awareness month. Our founder Gene Gurkoff started Charity Miles to enable people to raise money for charity through corporate sponsors. His inspiration was his grandfather Mel who has Parkinson’s Disease.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson’s today

This month we will be celebrating The Michael J Fox Foundation and Team Fox by telling stories of the amazing work they’re doing as well as highlighting some of their members.

What can you do this month to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s Research?

1) Log Charity Miles. Use our free app to earn money for the Fox Foundation any time you move.

2) Participate in one of the Parkinson’s Awareness Month campaigns. One of our favorites is the #HeelsOnHeadUp campaign. It’s super easy, just post a picture of yourself on Instagram or Facebook with your favorite pair of heels (or running shoes) on and share the message “Wearing my favorite heels to support Young Onset Parkinson’s Awareness,” Use hashtags #HeelsonHeadUp and #GoTeamFox. More details are here.

3) Talk about Parkinson’s Disease. Check out https://www.michaeljfox.org/ to learn about their programs and how they are planning to cure Parkinson’s.
