Tone it Up Girl and Charity Miles Champion Sam is getting ready for a May marathon by dedicating her miles to Stand Up to Cancer and ASPCA.
Hi! My name is Sam, I am 25 years old and live in the city of Bridges. Working as an occupational therapist in a children’s hospital has made me passionate about eating clean, being fit, and appreciating my body. I’m a sucker for everything Disney, popcorn, and late-night bowls of cereal.
How did you start using Charity Miles? The Tone it Up Charity Challenge is really what got me in the habit of logging miles. Once I started realizing how quickly it was adding up to help these organizations I was hooked!
Every mile matters in someone’s life. The amazing women in the TIU community always support and motivate me to log even more as I see their Charity Miles posts.
What activities do you do? Working out needs to be fun. There are so many classes out there to try! My last class was a silk circus class, and let me tell you, I found muscles I didn’t know I had. My regular routine consists of orange theory fitness and running.
I have run about 6 half marathons (all runDisney races) with my sister, and we are training for our first full marathon in May (lots of charity miles to come)!
What organizations do you support? Being involved in the Dance Marathon at the University of Florida (go gators!) I met a beautiful young girl “kicking cancers butt” (as she always put it). She changed my life forever and is a big part of why I work in a hospital today. That said, I often choose Stand Up to cancer as my organization. I think they have a great platform and it’s an area that needs much more research.
Also, animals have always been a huge area of passion for me as well, so I alternate my workouts with ASPCA. Choosing an organization that means so much to me inspires me to keep going!
