This week’s Charity Miles Champion is Leah Balentine! She’s a new mom who runs for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We’re honored to have her as a member of our community. We can’t wait to see how many miles Leah and our youngest Charity Miles Member Emmett can move for a cause.
I started running track in high school. I kept running to stay in shape through college. I was introduced to Team in Training which raises money for the LLS by a coworker at my first job as a RN. I ran the Marine Corps Marathon in 2009. I was hooked! I’ve now run 10 marathons.
My husband and I did some travel nursing which ultimately led us to live and work full-time in Hawaii. My running has improved tremendously since moving here two years ago. I’ve been working with a coach, running with faster people, and running on tougher terrain including more trails.
We welcomed our first child into the world on May 3, 2016. I’m so ready to get back to running. I’ve been walking with the Charity Miles app while waiting on clearance from my doctor to begin running again. I’m ready to log Charity Miles's stroller miles with my little one! I absolutely love the Charity Miles App.
Last night I ran 3.3 miles and this afternoon I walked 1.5 miles with my little one. It’s not much but I’m trying to have patience with my body and getting back in shape. I can’t wait to log stroller miles with Emmett!
