Dan Cox, Escape From Alcatraz (And Your Comfort Zone)

Table of Contents

Today I’m very excited to bring you my interview with Dan Cox. Dan is an entrepreneur and the face of the AfterShokz box. But you might also know him from shows like The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise.

Here are links to get it on iTunes, Stitcher, and Google Play.

Recently our friends at Aftershokz have been challenging us to “escape our comfort zones,” a challenge that grew from their sponsorship of the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon, which Dan raced this past weekend in San Francisco.

So I went out to San Francisco to chat with Dan about his story and the race.

But to be totally honest, this interview was outside my own comfort zone.

I didn’t know very much about Dan or reality TV. (And to be totally honest, I kinda roll my eyes at reality TV shows like The Bachelorette.)  So I really didn't know the direction our conversation would take.

But I’m really proud of this episode and not just because it was fun and easy-going. It’s also a good reminder that sometimes you just have to put yourself out there in the world.

We're lucky to have opportunities to practice stepping out of our comfort zones.

Whether it’s throwing yourself into a triathlon, a reality TV show, or a conversation with someone new, we should all enjoy experiences that are new, and different, and help us grow.

And I’m so glad I did. Dan is a really nice guy with an interesting story. Our conversation really flowed naturally. And I love his fresh and fun outlook.

Again, here are the links to get the episode on iTunes, Stitcher, and Google Play.

Please come along for the walk or run with us this weekend. And please share it with someone special.

As always, big thanks to our partners at AfterShokz who make this podcast, and everything we do at Charity Miles possible!

If you're listening to this podcast while walking or running, I hope you're wearing their open-ear bone conduction headphones.

Not only do they enable you to listen to your podcasts and music safely, but since they don't go in your ear, they are the most comfortable headphones I've ever owned– and they never fall out!
