Alecia “Lisa” Adcock, one of our most dedicated Charity Miles Champions, passed away unexpectedly on July 16th.

Since joining Charity Miles in 2017, Lisa completed 50,686 Charity Miles, mostly on bike. That's enough to circle the globe twice… and then ride from NYC to Milwaukee.

Lisa rode for just about every charity in the app, but her favorite were Stand Up 2 Cancer, the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, St. Jude's and, most recently, Tunnels To Towers.

Lisa was also an important leader in the Charity Miles community. She was a regular contributor in our Facebook Group and always one of the first to celebrate other people's posts– helping to set the tone for what makes our community so special.

Lisa's daughter, Amanda remembers that her mom started cycling in 2003 to improve her health and quickly fell in love with it:

It became her therapy and her escape and pretty soon she was getting a fancy bike and riding up to 50 miles a day.

We jokingly called her the mayor of the local park where she rode because she knew everyone and was always waving, saying hello, chatting with people and making new friends. She was practically famous as the blonde on the bike who zoomed by and soon everyone knew her name and she even got some other folks to start riding too.

Once she discovered Charity Miles and learned that her efforts could also help others, she was elated. She’s always been a giver and a helper with endless compassion for others so it was the perfect opportunity for her to do something that benefitted not only herself but others as well.

She was always great at being mine and my siblings cheerleader and she continued that in the Charity Miles community as well, always encouraging and celebrating others. She truly was one of a kind and I know that her influence and dedication made a huge difference in so many lives and I am forever proud of her.

Amanda, your mother surely made a difference in our community, and in my life personally. We will miss her and forever be grateful for all that she has done to make Charity Miles special.

With sincere condolences to the Adcock family,

Gene
