Two weekends ago the Charity Miles Staff went to Orlando to run in Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend events. It was an experience they’ll never forget.
Friday
On Friday, January 8th Charity Miles Members meet for a team photo. Over 75 people all sporting Charity Miles Shirts came out to support the app. There were people from all over the world moving for a cause that weekend.
Saturday
Fast forward to Saturday and the Walt Disney World Half Marathon. Staff members Steph and Lynette, were up at 3:00 am to run 13.1 Magical Miles in the Disney World Half Marathon.
They both logged their Charity Miles for ASPCA. The ASPCA works to rescue animals from abuse, pass humane laws, and share resources with shelters nationwide. Lynette said, “ I’m an animal lover and I love that ASPCA brings awareness to animals in need.”

At mile 12 Steph and Lynette found each other! They ran the last mile together in Epcot Center and finished in the shadow of Space Ship Earth.

The entire Charity Miles Staff celebrated Steph and Lynette’s half marathon with an afternoon at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. They conquered Space and Splash Mountain. They even took a tour of the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House and the Haunted Mansion. It was a day that won’t be forgotten.

Sunday
Sunday was the marathon. The founder and CEO Gene, and staff member Lauren, got up before the sun to take on 26.2 miles.
Gene ran for Team Fox, the fundraising community for the Michael J Fox Foundation. He ran for his grandfather who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

Lauren ran for Every Mother Counts, a maternal health organization dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for women all over the world.
“I know many women who have struggled with complications from pregnancy and childbirth, they are my strength. Even though I don’t have children of my own I feel educated and empowered by the work EMC (Every Mother Counts) does.”

Gene and Lauren both completed the 26.2 Charity Miles and took home a Walt Disney World Marathon medal.
