When Zimmerbiomet launched their rebrand, they needed to share the news with employees.
“We wanted to do something that was active for our team members, and we wanted to raise awareness with our team members that we were changing the brand,” says Adam Griner, corporate social responsibility manager. “We put those two together, and decided to work with Charity Miles.”
Zimmerbiomet’s new tagline is “Moving Forward.” It worked perfectly for a walking and biking challenge.
“We tied ‘Moving Forward’ into ‘Get out there and be active this summer,’” says Adam.
From July to September 2021, Zimmerbiomet team members walked, ran, and biked to raise money for the team member relief fund.
“We kicked around a lot of great organizations to donate money to,” says Adam. “We have 20,000 global employees, so there are such diverse interests. But this one ties it all together. Everybody could relate to helping fellow team members when they fall on hard times.”
The relief fund began during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and most of the funds have gone to COVID-19 relief. The fund has also supported employees with funeral expenses for family members, or recovery from a house fire.
The team reached an amazing 110,000 miles together, and the foundation donated $100,000 to the relief fund.
Team members enjoyed sharing photos with each other and gave “lots of positive feedback,” says Adam.
They loved that everybody could contribute to the cause.
“We have people that were training for a triathlon, so they got a lot of miles,” says Adam. “And we had other people who aren’t into fitness, and just tracked their miles as they walked to the mailbox.”
